“The Long Twilight Struggle” – The Transversals

“The Long Twilight Struggle” by The Transversals is a powerful rock/electronic track that features striking quotes from JFK in the form of found sound.  The speech speaks of peace, and action to achieve it.  Using Reich-like mimicry of the found sound, and a chilling but not excessively dissonant rock/electronic mix background, the work paints an image of how a modern day perspective on the troubles of today could–and perhaps should–be.  It speaks of ideals, something that we seem to have forgotten in today’s cynicism; it speaks of bold action, instead of today’s movement without action on a daily basis; and most of all, it speaks of hope.  The track is well-constructed, and the avant-garde references are perhaps a major reason I am drawn to it, but I think this track speaks to all who listen, yearning for change and resolution to the suffering in today’s world.  Peace to all of you; enjoy the track.
