“The Raging Sea” by Khyaam Haque begins simply, gently rocking us in the waves, but soon casts us adrift on a turbulent ocean. The use of synthesizers and metallic percussion in particular build the image of a stormy atmosphere, while the bass tones and percussion add depth to the ocean below. One can imagine one’s boat being thrown about by walls of waves as the seas churn, making one both fear and be in awe at the wind and water that surrounds oneself. Thankfully, we seem to wash ashore, peacefully, gently, safely. Perhaps the seas are rough out there, but they are calm as we reach home. And, perhaps this is a metaphor for each of our lives?
